Nick Capezzera is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, photographer, and co-founder of Player Piano Productions. In 2020, Nick made his directorial debut with Universe, a music documentary on famed trumpeter Wallace Roney. The film premiered at Sheffield DocFest and won the International Documentary Association Award for Best Music Documentary of the Year. That same year, he co-produced and co-cinematographed Maia Cruz Palileo - Becoming the Moon, which premiered on PBS American Masters.
Nick was most recently a co-producer and cinematographer of Building a Bridge (2021), a documentary about a priest’s journey to make the Catholic Church more accepting of the LGBTQ+ community. Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, the film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, aired on Sundance TV, and is currently streaming on AMC+.
In 2024, Nick was awarded the Center for Asian American Media Documentary Film Grant for his next project, The Other Side of Memory, a memoir film about his experience as a Korean adoptee.
Throughout his career, Nick has collaborated with a wide range of clients and organizations, including PBS, Netflix, Sundance TV, Art21, Google, The New York Times, and the Tribeca Film Institute, among others. His work spans various genres, from documentary to immersive experiences.
